Dental Implants

The best way to replace missing teeth.

The problem

  • A missing tooth or teeth.
  • Potential bite and jaw joint problems from teeth shifting to fill the space.
  • The "sunken face" look associated with missing teeth.
  • Desire to improve chewing ability.
  • Desire for a more permanent solution than dentures.

The solution

Lost teeth may be replaced by implants. Dental implantology is a modern treatment, which has become an everyday practice in Hungarian dental laboratories: there are over 200 clinics where dental implants are made.

Dental implants are false roots which are inserted in the place of missing teeth. There are hundreds of types known, but screw implants are the most common. The material that screw implants are made of is base titanium, as the human body admits it easily: titanium bonds with natrium, water, chloride, calcium and phosphate molecules, as well as proteins, so that the bone tissue’s protein structure can bond to it later. They’ve been using dental implants in Budapest for over 12 years, with tens of thousands of teeth successfully implanted. Titan implants also help prevent periodontal diseases, so it’s worth it getting this treatment as soon as possible after loosing a tooth. Thanks to this method, replacement of original teeth is available with dental implants that look very much alike the original, making everyday life easier for the patient.

Advantages

  • With implants, remaining natural teeth are protected from failure due to shifting caused by unsupported gaps between teeth.
  • With an implant, a missing tooth is replaced without grinding down adjacent healthy teeth (as with conventional bridges).
  • Implants offer a solution in cases where traditional treatments resort to removable dentures. With crowns and bridges anchored to the implants there is no embarrassment of false teeth slipping out, no pain or irritation of the gingival area.
  • With dental implants, one can eat whatever one pleases. Implants feel and function just like natural teeth, providing great stability and ease of chewing.
  • With implants, the process of jawbone atrophy is slowed. Altered facial contours may be restored to the original profile.

Disadvantages

  • Cost alone can deter you from getting this surgery done. Pricing can range from $1000 on up, and dental insurance is not going to cover the insurance, so if price is an issue, this may not be the procedure for you. Discuss this with your dentist. They may be willing to work with you on the cost of dental implants.
  • The procedure is not a quick and simple fix. You will need to make numerous visits to the dentist before your smile is back on track.
  • Recovery time could take 3-6 months. Bruising and swelling could develop after the implantation procedure.
  • The different steps of the implantation process could be painful. You might be one of the lucky ones to go through discomfort, but expect to deal with some pain.
  • There is a chance that the crown may need to be replaced after ten to fifteen years (although, if taken care of well, it could last forever).
